What Students Did, Thought & Their Feedback

“I was learning something at every moment, even if I didn’t realise it. Looking back now, in-country experiences such as the ILSC taught me so much more than just the language.”

Anonymous respondent in the Student Feedback Survey

In January and February 2024, ACICIS welcomed 32 participants to the ILSC Program Summer 2024, a collaboration with LTC UKSW, focusing on Indonesian language and culture. The program comprised two six-week sessions, with 22 participants receiving New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants and one receiving an New Colombo Plan Scholarship from the Australian government.

Upon completing their short course in Indonesia, ACICIS students are invited to provide anonymous feedback through a survey to share insights into their ACICIS experience.

All ILSC Summer 2024 students were contacted, and a response was received from 94% of the participants, totaling 30 out of 32 students.

With this participation rate, the survey is considered both relevant and sufficiently representative of the sentiments and perspectives of the student cohort.

100 % of respondents said they would recommend ACICIS to other students at their university!

The ILSC program, consisting of two sessions, featured orientation sessions on January 6-7 and January 27-28, where LTC and ACICIS presented information on learning programs, cultural insights, and health and security briefings, successfully introducing participants to the program.

Weekly language-intensive classes, complemented by cultural activities on Fridays, aimed to enhance active language learning and cultural understanding. Participants engaged in culture sharing and exposure sessions, cultural seminars, MaBar (Main Bareng) activities for local familiarization, and extracurricular classes like grammar, pencak silat, and batik. A mid-program check-point meeting allowed for program evaluation.

The culmination included a closing ceremony where participants received certificates, with some sharing their experiences. ACICIS congratulates all participants on completing both sessions and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
