At the beginning of their semester, ACICIS Indonesian Business, Law and Society (IBLS) students are enrolled in a compulsory Indonesian language and cultural class at the Centre for International Language and Culture Studies (CILACS UII). This class is taught at a beginner, intermediate, or advanced level, and provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of Indonesian culture and language, with the support of the Universitas Islam Indonesia‘s faculty staff and student buddies. At the conclusion of the classes, students have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities organised by CILACS.

ACICIS’ Semester 47 (August 2018) students, three New Colombo Plan (NCP) grant recipients, Jiyao (Joanna) Ge from The University of Sydney, Anjaly Tessa Saji from Macquarie University, Anna Ding from UNSW, and one NCP scholar Hwei-See Kay from University of Technology Sydney, participated in two cultural activities, including making Batik and learning traditional Javanese dance “Nawung Sekar”.

Thanks to CILACS UII for delivering an excellent Indonesian language learning environment for our student, and best wishes to Joanna, Anjaly, Anna and Hwei-See as they commence their formal classes at Universitas Islam Indonesia and their professional placement (internship) at local NGO’s in Yogyakarta.
