From August to December 2023, the Indonesian Business, Law, and Society (IBLS) program welcomed Simran Prasad from Western Sydney University (WSU). This IBLS program was hosted by the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) in Yogyakarta. In this semester’s iteration, Simran was supported by the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan (NCP) mobility grant.

ACICIS’ IBLS program allows students to take courses with both Indonesian and international students at UII’s Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Law. This semester, Simran enrolled in the Department of International Economic Development Program, and undertook classes such as Indonesian Economics and Islamic Macroeconomics. The courses offered were taught in English.

While studying in Indonesia, Simran was an active participant in various activities and volunteering programs. At the beginning of November 2023, she was a volunteer at the Dream House events, an organisation that focuses on helping children so they can have a better future. Simran also traveled to Toba Lake in North Sumatera, and discovered the beautiful scenery of this area.

The IBLS program wrapped up with a farewell event where Simran, other semester 57 students, and ACICIS staff enjoyed a delicious Indonesian cuisine dinner, entertaining games, and an exciting gift exchange session. Simran also shared her experience of studying in Yogyakarta with an outstanding speech. ACICIS is incredibly proud of the accomplishments made by the students this semester. Wishing you luck and success!
