The New Colombo Plan
Program.
Thanks to the New Colombo Plan (NCP), you might be eligible for funding to help you participate in an Acicis program! Discover everything you need to know below.
What is the
New Colombo Plan?
The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is a type of funding available in the form of scholarships (the NCP Scholarships Program) and grants (the NCP Semester Program and the NCP Mobility Program) to use towards studying, living, and completing placements in incredible places like Indonesia.
The NCP is an initiative by the Australian Government offered to Australian undergraduate students to develop their Indo-Pacific capability and Asia literacy through immersive, structured learning and internships in the Indo-Pacific region. Indonesia is a priority country under the NCP, and Bahasa Indonesia is a priority language.
Since 2014, we have worked closely with our member universities to apply for and secure New Colombo Plan grants for Acicis program participants. We’re proud to say that Acicis has been successful in securing NCP grant funding for students from member universities in all funding rounds from 2014 to date.
So what are you waiting for? The NCP funding may be able to provide you access to the opportunity of a lifetime – immerse yourself in a new culture, connect with local communities, and build a global network that supports a rewarding international career. NCP Grant information.
To be eligible for the NCP grant, you must meet the following criteria:
Eligibility
To be eligible for the NCP grant, you must meet the following criteria:
- Must be an Australian citizen
- Must be receiving credit towards an undergraduate course at an Acicis member university
- Must not have already received two New Colombo Plan grants. Students can only receive a maximum of two during the course of their study.
DISCLAIMER: While the above is the main criteria, please keep in mind that we assess each individual student according to the corresponding NCP guidelines for that funding round.
For a more detailed breakdown of the eligibility criteria, please contact the Acicis team.
How it Works
The NCP grant is available to help students cover some of the costs associated with studying abroad.
If you are awarded an NCP grant from Acicis, the funds will be transferred directly to your bank account approximately 6 weeks before the start of your program. You could use the grant to cover some of the costs like program fees, flights, visa and living expenses. You do not need to repay this grant.
How to Apply
Applying for an NCP grant is an easy and pain-free process! There is no separate application; once you have applied for an Acicis program, we will automatically assess your eligibility for a grant.
Should you be confirmed eligible, and provided there is sufficient funding, it is highly likely we will award you a grant.
Other Funding
If you find that you aren’t eligible for the NCP, no need to worry! Depending on where you live and/or university, you may find that you qualify for other types of funding that can be used when you choose to study abroad with us!
