About The Jakarta Post
The Jakarta Post is a daily English language newspaper in Indonesia.
There are four main desks at the Post, including City, Features, Sunday, Website and International.
Interns must have a laptop. While there are news desks available in the mornings when the offices are empty, by 4pm you will struggle for access to a computer.
Sound recording equipment is also essential because you will spend a lot of time in the field interviewing people.
- Workloads tend to differ between desks. City is the busiest, with lots of reporting in the field. Sunday is more entertainment-orientated feature writing.
- Pitch stories and investigate topic.
- Source contacts and interview them.
Work hours will depend largely on your assigned desk. Deadlines are from 4pm-6pm.
