Dr Ella S. Prihatini

The JPP Academic Program Officer for Summer 2023 is Dr Ella Prihatini.
Ella is a faculty member at Bina Nusantara (Binus) University in Indonesia. Prior to joining Binus University in March 2020, she was a teaching fellow at the University of Western Australia/UWA (2017-2019) and a lecturer in the Department of International Relations at President University (July 2013-February 2015). Ella has also developed over 10 years of experience in journalism (2004-2015) as a journalist of the ANTARA Indonesian News Agency. She has received extensive data gathering and reporting training in various countries including Japan, Australia, Qatar, and the UK.
Ella received her PhD in political science and international relations from the University of Western Australia (UWA), Perth, in mid-2019. Her research deals with issues in women’s political representation, social media and election, and gender in media. She has published high quality articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Politics & Gender, Parliamentary Affairs, Contemporary Politics, and Women’s Studies International Forum. In September 2019, Ella was listed by The Australian newspaper as Australia’s top 40 researchers who are less than 10 years into their careers.
